Alessandro Fedeli vittoria Valle d'Aosta

The first Italian success at the 55th Giro della Valle d’Aosta is signed by Alessandro Fedeli. The Trevigiani Phonix Hemus 1896 rider won the third and penultimate stage with arrival in Champoluc, anticipating Kazakh Vadim Pronskiy and Danish Wisly Gregaard. The 22 years old from Verona, who has already won Trofeo Edil C in Colecchio and Gp Liberazione in Rome, has added another prestigious victory to his curriculum for the joy of team President Ettore Renato Barzi.
«Right from the start, an escape of 18 riders took off, including our three Italians Fedeli, Mazzucco and Zana. The long climb scheduled has determined a natural selection. Fabio and Filippo sacrificed for Alessandro, who remained in the final with only two opponents. He attacked uphill and downhill, until he managed to make a difference on the Col de Joux. He rode the last 15 km alone, but has been out of the group for 160 km. A beautiful action that has paid off with the full result a great team work» says team manager Mirko Rossato who drove Fedeli from the car.
«I did not spare energy. My companions have helped me so much, I have to thank them. When I remained with two guys from Dimension Data, even though they were in numerical superiority, they did not cooperate so I accelerated uphill and I gave my best even downhill. When I finally managed to detach them I went “a block” to the finish line. This victory is for me and for the many sacrifices I face every day, dreaming of passing professional. I have not yet managed to find a contract, among the Under 23 nobody deserves it as much as me» adds the winner of the day, who will take part tomorrow in the final stage Valtournenche – Breuil Cervinia with his team mates Fabio Mazzucco, yesterday second in the second stage, Filippo Zana, Nacho Montoya and Abderrahim Zahiri, 10th in the general classification.
