Gran Premio Liberazione

Trevigiani Phonix Hemus 1896 dominated the 73rd Gran Premio Liberazione for Under 23. Alessandro Fedeli has conquered the prestigious classic that the best amateurs on the international scene have contested today in Rome, Italy.
The 22-year-old from Verona reached the finish line in the splendid Terme di Caracalla setting all alone with an advantage that allowed him to fully enjoy the triumph, raising the bike to the sky. Behind him, in the escape with which he had taken off, 5th place for Fabio Mazzucco, taken on the line by Slovenian Jerman Ziga and British Gabriel Cullaigh after a finisseur attack. The other Italian rider of President Ettore Renato Barzi team, Filippo Zana, closed 10th after a very good job in the role of stopper during the last four rounds.
«I have to thank my team mates, Floryan Arnoult, Adrian Vargas, Abderrahim Zahiri and especially the two young Italian Fabio Mazzucco and Filippo Zana who did a great job. I dedicate this important victory to my parents, I love them so much and they have always supported me. Today, as we have dominated a highly respected international race, we have shown that we deserve a place at U23 Giro d’Italia. For our professionalism and because we run better than all our other peers. Our “style” is fundamental for the Giro» says Fedeli, at the second prestigious success after Trofeo Edil C in Colecchio.
«We started badly, with the punctures of Fedeli, Arnoult and Vargas, but the guys were good at reversing the fate. After the 6-men break with Zahiri, we managed to put all 3 of our Italian riders in the decisive attack of 10. 4 laps from the end Alessandro attacked solo and managed to make the difference, protected to perfection by Zana and Mazzucco. I am proud of how these young guys reacted to the lack of invitation to the pink race, the most important goal of the season, which we held dear. Today’s results are the best answer for those who felt that our team was not up to the task» adds general manager Mirko Rossato, today in the car with sport director Emiliano Donadello.
Trevigiani Phonix Hemus 1896 season continues in Italy, with the stage race Terre di Toscana from April 28th to May 1st, which will be attended by the same group deployed today in Rome.
