This morning in Treviso the curtain was officially raised on Trevigiani Phonix Hemus 1896 cycling team. At the magnificent Palazzo dei Trecento, in the welcoming Advising Room, President Ettore Renato Barzi presented the 15 promising riders of 8 different nationalities hired for the new season.
The ambitions are clear: «In 2017 from January to October we took part in 59 races in 18 countries for a total of 118 days of competition. Our guys took part in 20 races with professionals and 39 among amateurs, winning 17 times, 40 podiums, 106 placements in the top 10. The goal is to improve ourselves, continuing to raise young talents from all over the world. We want to well performe in our “home race” Popolarissima, and in Under 23 Giro d’Italia, to which we hope to be invited. I thank all the sponsors who will ride with us this season, starting with Phonix Italia of our friend Marcello Guzzinati, the staff led by Mirko Rossato and Todor Kolev, and I wish a super season to everyone».
Sport directors Emiliano Donadello and Volodymyr Starchyk then explained the characteristics of the athletes: from climbers Alessandro Fedeli (Italy), Zahiri Abderrahim (Morocco), Aleks Bechkov (Bulgaria), Arnoult Floryan (France), Cristoff Jurado (Panama), Yoan Kolev (Bulgaria), Mihail Mihaylov (Bulgaria), Javier Ignacio Montoya (Colombia) and new entry Adrian Vargas (Colombia), sprinters Manuel Peñalver Aniorte (Spain), Nicolas Tivani (Argentina), and the most complete athletes as Fabio Mazzucco (Italy), Stanimir Cholakov (Bulgaria), Konstantin Nikolov (Bulgaria) and Filippo Zana (Italy).
On the occasion, in the presence of the local authorities led by the Treviso sports councilor Ofelio Michielan, was also presented Popolarissima n°103, international competition of the UCI Europe Tour calendar organized by Unione Ciclisti Trevigiani, which will be held in Treviso next 18th March.
The race of one of the oldest sports clubs in Italy, started 105 years ago, continues on the streets of the world with renewed enthusiasm. After the seasonal debut in Argentina and Colombia, the blue-white-black jerseys will return to the race on February 25th at GP Izola, in Slovenia.
